Words spoken or written are powerful. The central lesson that we draw from the parable of the Sower is how God sows the seed of word in our hearts. The seeds that fell on bad soil produced no fruits while the seeds that fell on good soil produced an abundance of fruits. The reason his words will not produce fruits is because people may receive the word of God but are distracted by other interests in their lives. They are so involved with other things that they have no room for God’s word to germinate, grow, and bear fruit. But when we make room for God’s word in our hearts, His words comforts us, guides, inspires and even challenges us. We need not let our lives be barren, so that the seed of God’s word sown in our lives will take root in our hearts. The good news is that God continues to sow his word in our hearts even though he knows that much of what he sows may fall on bad soil and produce no fruit. Remember God does not give up on us.
