Sharing Christ’s Love and Joy

Sharing Christ’s Love and Joy

Today, as we celebrate the 4th Sunday of Advent, our hearts draw closer to the joy of Christmas. The readings invite us to reflect on God’s faithfulness, the mystery of His plan for salvation, and the role of those who say “yes” to His will.

The Gospel presents the beautiful encounter between Mary and Elizabeth, two women filled with faith and joy. Mary, carrying Jesus in her womb, visits Elizabeth, who is also pregnant with John the Baptist. Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, recognizes Mary as “the mother of my Lord.”

Mary’s “yes” to God’s plan made her the vessel through which salvation entered the world. Her faith, humility, and willingness to serve are qualities we are called to emulate.

Elizabeth’s joy reminds us that true happiness comes from recognizing Christ’s presence in our lives and sharing that joy with others. Like Bethlehem and Mary, God often chooses what the world considers insignificant to accomplish His greatest works. We are called to trust in His plan and offer ourselves in humility. Mary’s “yes” reminds us of the importance of obedience and trust in God. How do we respond to God’s call in our daily lives? Elizabeth’s greeting to Mary shows how our recognition of Christ brings joy to others.

This Advent, we are called to share Christ’s love and joy with those around us. As we light the final candle of Advent, let us prepare our hearts to receive Jesus. This preparation involves repentance, prayer, and acts of love.

As we anticipate the birth of Jesus, let us ask ourselves: Are we ready to receive Him into our hearts and lives? Like Mary, may we say “yes” to God’s will, and like Elizabeth, may we rejoice in His presence. Let us embrace the hope, peace, and joy that Christ brings into the world and be His instruments of love and light.

May this final week of Advent draw us closer to the miracle of Emmanuel—God with us. Amen.
