On Becoming Holy Families
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family—Jesus, Mary, and Joseph—a model of love, faith, and unity for all families. In a world that often challenges the values of family life, this feast reminds us of the importance of living in harmony, guided by God’s grace.
The Holy Family was not immune to difficulties. From the moment of Jesus’ birth, they faced hardships—poverty, exile, and uncertainty. Yet, they remained steadfast in their trust in God. Joseph showed unwavering obedience, leading his family with faith and humility. Mary exemplified unconditional love and total surrender to God’s will. Jesus, though divine, lived in obedience to His earthly parents, growing in wisdom and grace.
This feast calls us to reflect on our own families. While no family is perfect, the Holy Family shows us that holiness is not about the absence of struggles but about how we respond to them. Families become holy when they prioritize love, forgiveness, and faith.
Let us also remember that the Holy Family extended love beyond themselves. Their example inspires us to reach out to others in kindness and compassion, especially those who may feel isolated or broken.
As we honor the Holy Family, let us ask for their intercession to make our families places of love, peace, and faith. May we, like them, seek God’s will in all things and reflect His love in our homes and to the world.
Amen.
