Experiencing Restoration and Transformation at Advent
Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, as we celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent, the liturgy continues to focus on preparation. Advent invites us to prepare our hearts and lives for the coming of Jesus, both at Christmas and at the end of time. Today’s readings highlight God’s desire to bring restoration and salvation and call us to actively participate by clearing the obstacles in our lives that hinder His coming.
In the Gospel, we hear about John the Baptist, the voice crying out in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.” John calls the people to repentance and invites them to remove every obstacle that prevents them from welcoming the Lord.
What are the mountains of pride, valleys of despair, or crooked paths of sin in your life? Advent is the time to make straight the way of the Lord by turning away from sin and returning to God with all your heart. The sacrament of reconciliation is a powerful way to experience this transformation.
May our preparation bear fruit, and may we be ready to receive the Lord when He comes. Amen
